some CamTigger History.

Back in 1997 when I finally bought a bike (1974 R75/6) and had it serviced at Arlington motor sports I bought a copy to the "Biker's Post" & saw a picture of some dudes at a "swap" organized by the Yankee Beemers.

So off I rode to their next meeting at the colonial & met a guy named Greg Mcquide from Somerville. For the next meeting I snailed an invitation (to ride to the next meeting together) to him and about five other Yankee Beemers living in and around Cambridge. The snailing went on for about a year before Brother Justin fixed up a terminal at my desk connected not only to our company mainbrain but also to the internationally acclaimed & beloved internet.

I kinda got locked into expanding the AOL address book willynilly and often writing first a Review of the last ride and then an Alert for the next ride. sometimes only a combined Review/Alert.

At that time Deb Macchi was the editrix of the YB BoxerShorts. She kinda liked the Reviews and published a couple in the "Shorts" So we hadda think up a name for this nascent group. Duh-oh 7 we arrived at those who live in or near Cambridge as being conTIGuous toCAMbridge..... so The CamTigger Review was born.

The club took some amusement from our organization as well as the writing. Although most misunderstand or misconstrue the name as CamTigers..Mebbe the CamChaprters woudda been better...... Anyhow after a few boring rides down rtes 126 & 27 & 16 & 126 i met a YB named Steve Hadden. He allowed that he knew some more interesting roads from Acton to Bellingham... so the CamTiggers arranged to meet Steve & his guys in Maynard.

Often we rode outside rt 495 so I started calling the maynard contingent The OutRiders. And the fun grew and the list grew............ Many have ridden & many ride only infrequently sometimes a ride of 14 or more begcomes unmanageable & no fun so our group is very muck now you see'em now you don't. But they all seem to enjoy reading the Reviews and Alerts

As you can imagine the aol address book is just about impossible... It is not possible to arrange it alphabeta and it is broken only by commas. It will be a great thing tohave a mangeable list and clearly the fact of a "website" offers possibilities I haven't dreamed of, being the Ofguadg (Old, fat, gray, ugly and dumb guy that I am.)
